a community pottery studio
Of the earth is a woman + artist owned community pottery studio located in SODO right on the Georgetown line.
Our goal is to offer a welcoming and non-intimidating studio space for potters of all levels to build and develop their practice. We’re committed to maintaining a comfortable, grounding, and encouraging studio environment with no room for competition amongst our community.
We first opened our doors in September of 2021 with 2 wheels + a big vision. After absorbing the unit next door in 2022, the studio now hosts 12 wheels, a 30” slab roller, a wall mounted extruder, 2 electric kilns, and a totally dreamy loft space used for hand building and multidisciplinary work.
Of the earth also strongly prioritizes economic empowerment for artists. Our team is paid highly competitive wages, and our loft space is available for hourly rental for artists looking to share their craft without taking on the burden of managing a public studio of their own.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to take your first ceramics class or an experienced potter looking to continue your practice, of the earth looks forward to welcoming you into our space.
