tataki zome: plant portraits with a hammer

  • of the earth ceramics 4800 Airport Way South Seattle, WA, 98108 United States (map)

A form of eco printing, also known as Hapa Zome or Flower Pounding, Tataki Zome is aJapanese phrase for the method of creating prints by hammering botanicals into cloth or paper.

In this unique and stress relieving botanical art workshop, fiber artist Paige St. Pierre will lead you through easy and fun ways to make gallery worthy prints using only fresh flower blooms, leaves and a hammer! Once you’ve hammered your prints onto paper, Paige will guide you through a variety of ways you can enhance your botanical prints with watercolor.

Botanical prints can be transformed into finished pieces of botanical art for use as bookmarks, gift tags, greeting cards, collage papers, or framed art.

Participants are encouraged to bring fresh botanicals from their yard to share (nothing poisonous, dead or dried).
